Sometimes there can be opacities in some of the structures of the eye which may cause distortions and blurry vision which cannot be corrected by glasses or contact lenses. The lens of the eye may have opacities which are commonly known as cataracts. The cornea of the eye may have scars or abrasions which can also cause this. Also, in the interior chamber of the eye, the vitreous, which is a clear gelatinous substance which keeps the shape of the eye regulated may also have opacities which affect the clarity of sight. It is important to remember that sometimes an individual may have a combination of two or three types of visual loss evident at the same time.
