Lower Homonymous Hemianopsia

This next slide would be an example of a lower hemianopsia. This would cause problems particularly in reading, either causing an abnormal head position or else the person would need a reading stand out in front of them for reading purposes. Also it is probably more difficult for mobility as dropoffs such as stairs, curbs, wheelchair ramps, cannot be detected easily. Sometimes a low vision specialist may prescribe prismatic glasses which can shift the image up or down or to the left or right, but it is still difficult to adjust perceptually as things seem in the field that are not really where they appear to be.
